The Ebico Trust Trustees, meet with Sustainable Ventures colleagues on a quarterly basis to assess the applications and award tailored support packages to early-stage enterprises, which have developed affordable low-carbon home heating and energy efficiency solutions, to help them overcome the barriers to growth.
The successful SMEs are awarded £5-10K of commercial or design support packages to, ultimately, bring more affordable sustainable home warmth to lower-income households.

Qube buildings
Qube currently manufactures sustainable Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) called Bio SIPs. Bio SIPs have built-in insulation and are constructed in a modular way and are manufactured from PET recycled materials and a compilation of flax/ hemp/ bioresin. They are currently building outbuildings using their Bio SIPs. The company’s long-term goal is to build sustainable, passive houses using this system.

First Thermal
First Thermal Ltd offer a unique thermal survey system which reveals the exact cause of energy loss from homes and their own internal survey protocol, Heatview® software, and bespoke booking/CRM system. About a quarter of their surveys are free for those on low incomes, and most remedial actions cost under £100. Surveys help pinpoint where energy loss is occurring and are designed to inform design and retrofit plans for improved energy performance.

Flint Engineering
Flint Engineering specializes in low-carbon technologies based on their patented Isomat technology and has developed two low-carbon heating products. The first product is a radiator replacement that is 150% more efficient than traditional steel radiators at low temperatures, ideal for retrofitting with heat pumps without requiring more wall space and has a faster response time. The second product is a roof panel that fulfils a building’s heating and hot water needs while meeting the requirements of a roof, making the property self-sufficient and has the potential to end fuel poverty.

Gecko Glazing have developed a UK patent-pending innovative secondary glazing solution that can be easily installed directly on windows without obstructing existing windows.
